Swimathon 2000
Enjoy getting fitter, bust stress and raise money for Shelter.
The annual BT Swimathon swimming challenge is taking place between 13th and 19th March 2000 at swimming pools across the country. Your opportunity to take part in Covent Garden is at the Oasis Sports Centre, Endell Street.
You can either set yourself an individual challenge of 5,000 metres, 2,500 metres or 1,500 metres, or swim as a team with friends, family or colleagues. You seek sponsorship from anyone likely to cough-up when you swim your target length, in the knowledge that you get fitter, enjoy the swimming and help Shelter, the national homeless charity.
All money raised goes to charity, with the majority going to Shelter's "Homework Project", which aims to make school leavers aware of homelessness issues and prepare them in making informed decisions in later life.
All you need to do is register, either on-line, by telephone or by obtaining an Entry Pack. The sponsorship and the swimming itself aren't half the challenge they seem - you'll soon discover the 'fun' side of swimming and get hooked for life. If you raise sufficient funds, you will receive one of a number of fund-raisers gifts, dependant on the amount you raise.
Further information and an Entry Pack can be obtained from the Oasis, Endell Street, WC2.
