Job vacancy - Assistant Co-ordinator

Macklin StThe Covent Garden Community Association (CGCA), a registered charity, is looking for a highly motivated person to strengthen its small team. This post offers an opportunity to help influence the quality of life for residents in one of the most diverse and challenging environments in central London. The successful candidate will become an important part of the CGCA's respected and expanding work, with a view to become the full-time Co-ordinator in due course.

Who are we?

The CGCA has been at the forefront of community work in the Covent Garden area for almost 30 years and has a proven track-record of making a difference to the lives of local people. The Association was instrumental in the 1970s in opposing the GLC's plans to demolish large parts of the Covent Garden we know today. We have worked hard to help increase the residential population of the area, and today almost 6,500 people live in this part of the West End of London.

What do we do?

The CGCA works to safeguard and improve the essential amenities for this community, which finds itself under constant pressure from the leisure and entertainment industries. Our work involves close liaison with both local authorities and Police divisions, local businesses and institutions, and other community and housing groups active in central London.

Who are we looking for?

We are at the start of an exciting and important stage in our history and are setting-up a new, additional community facility in the area. We are looking for an Assistant to work with our Co-ordinator in developing new areas of work and help cope with an existing heavy workload.
