The heart of London's West End
St Clement Danes C of E Primary School
The past year has been a very full and exciting one for all at St Clement Danes. The hard work of the staff and the children is reflected in the SATS results and in the day to day progress of individual children.
Many events have been organised and projects undertaken, for example, the wonderful Christmas performance of the Selfish Giant, in the Linbury Studio Theatre.
In addition to this, the school premises have undergone some re-development.
Whilst the classrooms are as they have always been, a new Reception Office, an Admin Office and a new Staff-Room have been created in the school. Through the generosity of the Trustees the school has also acquired some extra teaching and learning space.
Sam Twining LVO, OBE, chair of the St Clement Danes Foundation, formally opened the new block in February. This comprises a hall, a computer room, a small kitchen and some toilet facilities. These facilities are sited in the old basement of premises which once belonged to the British Library, 9-13 Kean Street.
The main part of the building has now been converted into offices and very expensive flats. The trustees of the school acquired the basement for school use and paid for its refurbishment. The school has access to these new facilities via the school playground. The play centre has been re-located to this site and the staff and children are enjoying their new location to the full. Additional space has long been sought after by the Governors and Trustees and at last, the dream has become a reality.
The Governors, the staff and children would like to thank all our friends in the community who support the school so generously.
