Covent Garden London
The heart of London's West End
Phoenix Garden
The Phoenix Community Garden is managed by the Covent Garden Open Spaces Association and is the last of the community gardens in the Covent Garden area.
Phoenix Garden has changed much over the last two years. Changes have been made, such as our new fencing, kindly donated by the Lilac Project and finally we can say that the garden is free from the undesirables who were making it a no go area and we are really encouraged by seeing the many children who are coming back to use this valuable open space.
We are continuing to grow our own flowers and plants both for use in the garden and to sell. Springtime has been fantastic, with an array of colour and blooms, and we can't wait to see the children's sunflowers again.
Wildlife has continued to take advantage of the area, the blue tits are nesting again and the frogs have been very busy providing lots of tadpoles! We have continued to have our usual events, Fun Days, Halloween parties, Christmas Carol evening and this year we have included "frog week" which includes an art competition for local schools and children.
This year we are celebrating our 18th Birthday and hope to hold a party during the summer to celebrate.
The "back end" of the garden really needs developing and this will be our main priority. We held a planning afternoon last autumn, which has helped us focus on what needs to be done. We do hope that local residents and businesses will support us in any way, no matter how small, so that this can be achieved.
Please come and visit us and take advantage of a wonderful green area in the heart of the West End.
