Residents & Environment Sub-committee

The Residents' and Environment Committee has been meeting every two or three months and has been well attended. Under the Chairmanship of Robert Saunders a number of topics have been discussed including: traffic and Clear Zones, refuse collections & cleansing, the replacement of missing trees, road and pavement repairs, parking, public transport etc., etc.

The members of this Committee are the eyes and ears of the area, reporting on any environmental matter needing attention to the Executive Committee so that the relevant action can be taken. We maintain the "Shoe Box" in the office for people to drop in reports of defects or problems they spot. In addition, the Committee has invited a number of council officials responsible for various aspects of the environment to discuss the problems and their possible solutions with residents at the regular meetings.

The members are looking forward once again to this summer's Covent Garden Flower Festival and hope to have the opportunity to get involved.

The proposed "Clear Zone" for the Camden part of Covent Garden, where through-traffic will be banned, is particularly welcome and we all look forward to seeing some evidence that this project will really happen. All members of the CGCA are welcome to become involved in the consultation for this. Please contact the CGCA office if you would like to find out more.
