Covent Garden London
The heart of London's West End
Duval Court Tenants' Association
'More of the same' could be the motto for the last year for Duval Court tenants.
More games for the common room, more pictures hung in the foyer and the usual list of ongoing proposals and problems with regard to daily life in a Peabody block!
However, for all tenants life has been dominated by more building works, i.e. the refurbishment of the large office block opposite as a large hotel. More noise, more dust, more obstruction from delivery vehicles, more protests over out-of-hours deliveries. The continuous noise from jackhammers, for 10 hours a day nearly drove us all mad. Unprecedented levels of protest erupted over applications for 3am closing hours and music & dancing for the ground floor and basement of the building. The licence was granted until 1am, but the hotel has appealed and a hearing is expected this summer. We now look forward to the opening day and to beautifully repaved Mays Court and Hop Gardens and, dare we hope, peace and quiet??
