Trafalgar Square traffic works exhibition

Public exhibition about the latest proposals to pedestrianise the northern part of Trafalgar Square. The 'World Squares for All' scheme is being progressed; Westminster City Council has now approved phase one of this very important scheme.

The current proposals will create a pedestrian plaza on the northern side of the Square and link the National Gallery with the Square itself. This will have enormous benefits for pedestrians and Museum visitors, but is likely to add to journey times for cars, taxis and buses. Covent Garden residents are concerned about traffic being displaced into the narrow Covent Garden streets.

The project team wants to hear YOUR views on the proposals at the public exhibition, which will be held from 18-22 February 2000 at the Royal United Services Institute, Whitehall, London SW1.
