WORKSHOP AND LUNCH FOR COVENT GARDEN'S HOMELESS WITH THE SWISS CHURCH IN LONDON AND ANTON MOSIMANN
On Saturday 27th April, The Swiss Church in London, in conjunction with world-famous London-based Swiss chef Anton Mosimann, hosted a Workshop and Lunch for the homeless in Covent Garden. The Ambassador of Switzerland, His Excellency Bruno Spinner, attended the Workshop and Lunch, accompanied by his wife.
Held at The Swiss Church in London in Endell Street, Covent Garden, over 60 people attended the lunch, coming mainly from St. Mungo's hostel, located next to the Church. Prior to the lunch, Anton Mosimann, his chefs and 3 of the residents and one of the tutors from St. Mungo's participated in a cooking workshop where they prepared the lunch. The lunch consisted of a starter of Minestrone Soup followed by Oriental Chicken with stir fry vegetables. For dessert, the chefs prepared an Apple and Blackberry crumble.
Commenting on the day's events, Rev. André Fuez, Minister of The Swiss Church in London said, "We are extremely pleased that so many people attended the lunch and we would like to thank Anton Mosimann, his chefs and the workshop participants for an excellent lunch."
The Swiss Church in London has a close relationship with St. Mungo's hostel, with the City Swiss Club raising money for the Church in order to organise different workshops (such as video, photography, arts and music) for the residents of the hostel. The Church believes that it is not only a church for the Swiss people, but has a responsibility within the London Borough of Camden for the homeless, drug addicts and young people on the street.
The Swiss Church in London, founded in 1762 as "Eglise Suisse de Londres", has contributed to the welfare of the Swiss Community in London. The Swiss Church is a Christian congregation that offers people opportunities to meet and worship together, to discuss questions of life and to support each other. The Swiss Church offers a place of worship, a place to celebrate life and to express sadness, a place to meet socially, a home for various groups, and a place to express art in its various forms.
