The 30th Anniversary of the CGCA

St. Pauls Portico

The Covent Garden Community Association's 30th Anniversary celebration will be held on Wednesday 25th April 2001 at 6pm in the beautiful setting of St Paul's Church, Covent Garden.

For thirty years the Covent Garden Community Association has fought to maintain a neighbourhood that is threatened by rampant commercialism. The Association was formed as a reaction to development plans in 1970 that would have demolished over three quarters of the 100 acres we know as Covent Garden. A strong local residential community was and is at the forefront of the CGCA's efforts.

The celebratory service will last an hour and will include contributions that will evoke the past and look at the future of the Covent Garden area. An address will by made by The Reverend Austen Willliams, the CGCA first Chairman. There will be music, singing and a choir, and (after the service) lots of food and refreshments.

We look forward to seeing you at this evening of celebration!
