Covent Garden CAB closes

The Citizens Advice Bureau in Henrietta Street, WC2 has closed. Since 29th January 1999 the staff will only deal with existing case work until the end of March, after which the service will cease to function in the West End. The closure is the direct result of a large cut in the budget for Westminster CAB, in order to make savings in the Council’s expenditure to keep the Council Tax as low as possible.

The nearest CABs are located at:
• Royal Courts of Justice, Strand (Fleet Street end), WC2 - tel 0171-405 2225 (please note that this CAB specialises in work related to the Court in which it is located – for general advice please contact an other CAB).
• Pimlico, 140 Tachbrook Street, SW1 - tel 0171-834 5727.

If you live in the Camden part of Covent Garden you should contact the CAB at:
• Holborn Library, Theobalds Road, WC1 - tel 0171-404 1497. This CAB has a policy to only deal with clients from its Camden catchment area, so Westminster residents need to use a Westminster-based CAB.
