14.6 DISABLED TRAVEL
Camden operates the national Orange Badge Scheme providing parking permits for disabled drivers or those giving support to disabled drivers. Holders of the Orange Badge may park up to three hours in a 'pay and display' bay, provided they exhibit the disk showing their time of arrival. To be eligible, you will be receiving Mobility Allowance, be registered blind or have taken examination with a Camden-nominated doctor. For those living south of Euston Road, a Green Badge scheme has been introduced. This allows unlimited time in parking bays, resident bays and designated 'Green Badge Only' bays. Orange Badge holders working or studying in the Camden side of Covent Garden may also qualify for a Green Badge, although there is a charge for workers.
Westminster allows cars with Orange Badges to park for up to four hours in designated bays. You can also pay for a meter space or pay and display and receive one additional hour pay. Westminster issues White Badges to residents, those working in the area or those receiving certain hospital services. Holders of White Badges may park for unlimited periods in residents' bays or at meters/pay and display.

14.9 ILLEGAL PARKING
Always check the signs relating to your parking bay. Residents should check their cars and the signs at least once a day, since bays may be suspended at very short notice.
RESIDENTS
Camden: Residents' parking bays are in force 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Camden residents may also park free of charge at meters and pay and display bays after 5:30pm and until 9:30am.
Westminster: Residents' parking bays operate between 8:30am and 8:30pm, seven days a week.
BUSINESS AND VISITORS
Camden and Westminster both operate meters and pay and display bays from 8:30am to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday and 8:30am to 6:30pm Saturday.
You may park in a loading bay outside these hours, although some are set aside for disabled users.
All disabled bays are in force 'at any time'.
Westminster and Camden operate wheel-clamping and tow-away for illegally parked vehicles. As a
general rule, never park on double yellow lines. It is legal to park on a single yellow line outside the hours of parking enforcement.
If your car is clamped take the red label (fixed to the windscreen) to the nearest car pound. When the charge is paid the clamp will be removed. Payment can be by cash, cheque or credit card. Do not delay; your vehicle may be removed to a pound and additional tow away and daily storage fees will be charged.
Vehicle removed:
telephone the control centre (747 4747) with vehicle details. You will be told where the vehicle is held. Fees for towing away and storage are payable.
