Chelsea and Westminster Counselling and Psychotherapy
SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED
The aim of counselling is to provide the space and opportunity for us to discuss and explore concerns, problems and anything that appears to prevent us from fulfilling our potential and living in a more rewarding way.
Counselling will provide a safe environment for you to explore your concerns with someone who is trained and committed to be objective, non-judgemental and unconditional.
We believe it is the right of the client to make his or her own decisions. All that takes place between the counsellor and the client is confidential and treated with respect. Before the process begins, the counsellor and the client agree the basis on which the counselling is to be given, including method, duration and fees.
Counselling is generally considered to be a shorter process than psychotherapy. The two are similar, though the focus in counselling is often related to a specific problem, whereas, psychotherapy tends to have a broader and more exploratory intention and is usually longer in duration.
We are all qualified and participate in ongoing professional development. In the interests of our clients, we are members of the British Association for Counsellors and are bound by its Code of Ethics and Practice and subject to its Complaints procedure. In accordance with best practise we have a commitment to our own ongoing therapy and we receive regular clinical supervision.
