Dear friend of Covent GardenWelcome to our March newsletter exclusively about Covent Garden.
If you thought you knew Covent Garden, think again - we've got news for you! Please visit http://www.coventgarden.org.uk and discover some of Covent Garden as the 'locals' know it.
- Although there are many residents in the West End of London who have lived here all their lives, not many of them are 100 years old and even fewer manage to still live on their own at that age. Read about Margaret, a remarkable local lady and send her a special 100th birthday message from our site.
- Need to find a local decorator or plumber? Looking for an accountant or specialist shop? Desperate for a dentist or doctor? Check the Covent Garden website for up-to-date details of local facilities in our 'Covent Garden Handbook'. We also have the most comprehensive collection of web addresses for local shops, organisations and companies.
- You can now place free classified advertisements on the local community notice board - great if you are looking for a cleaner, a flat, a job, a web designer of even a saxophone tutor! Read more about the services of a local counsellor and a cleaning company with a difference. Do you have an event you wish to promote? - please email us the details.
- The Covent Garden website has information about meetings, festivals and upcoming events. We will keep you informed of special offers if you wish to shop locally or buy your lunch around the corner. Local events that we are planning at present include a street party in the summer and a concert of classical music and opera in the autumn. Please make a note in your diary now of the CGCA's Annual General Meeting, which will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday 16th June at The Design Council, 34 Bow Street - don't miss it!
- If you want to read what it is like to be able to park your car in a residents' bay, please read the hilarious account of 'The ResPark Rager' (a real Covent Garden resident) who has had just about enough of Camden Council's parking attendants.
- If you live or work in the Covent Garden area, have access to a digital camera and can spend a couple of hours, please help us by taking some photographs. We would like to finish our photographic map and tour but could do with some extra pairs of hands.
- Finally, if you have any interesting articles, photographs or anecdotes about Covent Garden, please contact us. We are looking for people to write some historical articles, some hysterical articles and also articles that anyone in Covent Garden may wish to read. Please let us know if you have anything of interest - if it's useful we'll publish it.
You have received this newsletter by email because you are based in Covent Garden or have shown an interest in Covent Garden. If you no longer wish to receive this free facility, please email mailto:webusiness@bigfoot.com to be removed.
