One Aldwych Awarded Hotel of the Year

A Covent Garden hotel is the best in the land, according to the Automobile Association.

The motoring organisation has awarded One Aldwych - its name is also its address - the accolade of AA Hotel of the Year 2000.

Inspectors for the award said they were impressed by the hotel's attentive service and modern furnishings - not least the mini-TV sets and mist-proof mirrors provided in the bathrooms, the CD players and feather and down duvets in all of the 105 bedrooms and its voicemail and ISDN service.

Its leisure facilities are also well worth writing home about. They include a health spa, an 18-metre swimming pool and fully equipped 35mm private cinema with adjoining dining room..

The pleasing decor, consisting of furniture designed and created for the hotel out of natural materials, also adds to the already lavish comfort on offer.

All this opulence obviously comes at a luxury price. Anything from £245 for a single room up to £995 for a two-bedroomed suite.
