Sadie Nichols

Sadie moved to Covent Garden 5 years ago and has been extremely happy here. She is particularly fond of the thriving social scene and likes the fascinating history. She is concerned that the unique character of the area, with its large, diverse community of residents, workers and visitors is preserved. She sees maintaining a decent quality of life for everyone as the greatest challenge to the CGCA.

The increasing number of bars and restaurants and their ever later opening hours are making life noisier and less pleasant. Sadie has experienced this first-hand and believes that the CGCA plays a vital role in reconciling the competing interests. She enjoys the CGCA Executive meetings and also sits on the Residents & Environment Sub-committee, helps with planning applications, site visits, court appearances, public meetings and meetings of other local groups.

Sadie has a degree in sociology and works with vulnerable children and in an antique shop. She lives in a street which has lost many of its attractive, individual and specialist shops such as the Hat Shop, the Bead Shop, the Shell Shop, the Leather Shop, the Comics Shop and the Sheep Shop, which have all moved out or closed as a result of vast increases in rent. Instead, she is now surrounded by 14 shoe shops!
