Jim Monahan

Founder member of the CGCA when he lived in the area; now lives in Kings Cross with his family of 4 boys and his wife, painter & cartoon supremo Jane. An architect by profession, working from offices in Soho.

"The greatest joy of being involved with the CGCA is the different people I have met over the years and the friendships that I have made as a consequence."

"My main reason for belonging to the CGCA is to continue to battle to maintain central London as a place where those on low incomes can live and where the quality of life is not completely consumed by commercial, short-term interests, especially the problems associated with late-night entertainment uses. With the Government's intention to require those on income support to pay a proportion of their rent and council tax, both of which are high in central London, the possibility of central London becoming like some US cities, with ghettos of very poor and very rich, with all the consequential injustice and leading to a dysfunctional society and individual hardship, is a distinct possibility".
